On Sunday, May 23rd, members of Croton Jewish Center joined up with NOW Israel (NOW stands for Northern Westchester) to march in the Salute to Israel Parade in Manahattan. Accompanied by the members of Westchester Klezmer (including our own Ian Bonnell) there was much singing, dancing and Ruach. The crowds were a blast. At one point, the entire coalition was stopped in front of the anti-Israel protestors corner on 57th street. Our own Westchester Klezmer, in a burst of inspiration, began playing Ha Tikvah and everyone in the NOW Israel contingent began singing and drowned out the protesters with a show of pro-Israel unity! It was also wonderful hearing the name "Croton Jewish Center" proclaimed no less than three times over the loudspeakers as we marched down Fifth Avenue. A wonderful time was had by all.
